Pics from Thursday - Sunday

This first picture was taken today. I just love the look of the yellow rose against the dark background. With the cold spell we've had lately, its nice seeing these signs of spring.

This is the motorcycle we purchased for my husband on Saturday. It is a 1977 Honda CB750 K. We'll be picking it up tomorrow. This is something he has been wanting for quite awhile, so I am glad we were able to get it.

Yes, my hubby is featured two days in a row. This really shouldn't be surprising. Its more surprising he's not in every pic. lol Here he is with one of his favorite pastimes, reading about airplanes. In this instances, it is airplane engines.

Its Girl Scout cookie time here. Don't these look yummy!! So far, I've purchased seven boxes. But that number may go up. lol

My car has a display of the outside air temperature. This is what it read at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. Talk about cold!! And I was wearing sandals. lol

Girls Scout Cookies

Girl Scout cookies are evil. I tell you they are. I opened my first box of what should be Samoas, but since I live in a council that uses the ABC Bakery instead of the Little Brownie Baker, are Caramel Delightes and the box has already forced me to eat five cookies. That's right, five cookies. So mean that box of cookies was too me. I may have to teach that box a lesson and eat the whole thing right away. lol

Peaceful Transition of Power

Today, the 44th President of the United States of America. This day is truly historic, not just because Barack Obama was elected, but because of what his inauguration represents. It represents a peaceful transition of power. This is something that we in the United States are privileged to experience every four years. Yet there are many in the world who have never known a peaceful transition of power. How truly amazing that this peaceful transition of power has gone on for over 200 years. How blessed we really are to be in this great country.

I had to work today, so I was only able to listen to the inauguration of my XM Radio. I thought Obama gave a good speech. Not an amazing one, but a good one. I did really enjoy this quote from his speech.

The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

As President Obama take office. I am interested to see where the next four years will take us. I know I am not going to agree with everything he does. I've never agreed with everything any President has done. But whatever happens, I hope the next four years are ultimately filled with prosperity and happiness for this country.

Playing Catch Up

I am even more behind this time than I am last time I had to play the catch up game. So, I am going to get on with the descriptions.

This first picture, taken 1-20-2009, is of my XM Radio connected to my iPod speakers. This is how I was able to listen to the inauguration today, on the POTUS channel on XM Radio. I had to work today and I did not want to miss the inauguration. In the United States, we are privileged to experience every four years a peaceful transition of power. This is something many people throughout the world never have the opportunity to experience, so this is something for which we should be grateful. That is why I chose to capture my method of experiencing another peaceful transition.

This picture was taken of the brand new Circuit City about 15 minutes from our house was taken on 1-19-2009. It's been open less than six months and now it will be closing its doors forever. I have always had an inexplicable fondness for Circuit City, so I am sad that they are closing. So, I wanted to get a picture of the sign on the Circuit City store.

Most of my pictures are taken using my Canon dRebel XS. However, on Sunday morning I absolutely loved the look of the sky near hour home, so I definitely wanted to take some pics. My Kodak ZD710 was more readily available at the time, so I used it instead. I must say I am really happy with the way this came out.

This is one of the pics I took on Ssturday. I am always looking to get a good shot of the flag as I love what she represents. I must say I am happy with this one.

I took this pic of a doggy toy on Friday evening. Do you see what is missing? The poor dogs legs. Do you know when my dogs got this toy? On Christmas day. My dogs are so rough on toys. Very few toys can handle the stress. I've found the original Loofah dogs to be the best option so far.

I'll admit this is another desperation shot. This is my car's dashboard at night. One of the reasons I fell in love with my car is because the dashboard glowed bright red. So, why not get that on record. :O)

Congrats!! You made it to the end of my post. I really appreciate your sticking around to look at all of my pics!

Let Them Eat Cake

Last night I was up at the church working with the young women. After making birthday cards, we all had birthday cake to celebrate one of the leaders' birthdays. Needless to say, I had to get out my camera. Getting good shots is hard cause the young women just don't stay still for long. lol But I did get this one great shot of my most faithful blog reader (its a little blurry, but I had to use it). She reads all three of my blogs, so I told her that the pic of her eating cake was going to be my pic of the day and she decided that would be kewl So, Kayla here ya go, the pic of the day for yesterday.

Okay, I know I haven't posted lately

But honestly, not much going on beyond ADSR 4 and Project 365. You can checkout what I am doing there using the links to my other blogs.

Last night we made our second trip to eat at The Crepe Maker. I love eating their stuffed crepes. They are so good. I especially love the dessert ones. I am sure no one is surprised about that. :O)

Our dogs are all being good right now. It's a miracle. Okay, not really. Its that they are all asleep. hehehehe

Okay, I thought I'd share with y'all the only photo of me from the whole Christmas season. I took plenty of pics, but I am not in them. lol. This picture was taken when we went to Lake Wales to Bok Tower to see the Pinewood House decorated for Christmas.

(You can see the full credits here.)

Say Hello to the Anole

When I got home this evening, this anole was dying to have its picture made. And it stayed on that leaf through the use of three lenses and multiple shots. What a good model. (Wish my hubby was so patient when having his pic taken. lol) This is my favorite of all the shots. (I did crop it so that you could really see the anole.)

Pics Since "Friday

After today, I am hoping to be back to posting every day. :O) I much prefer presenting them that way. For today though, here are my pics since Friday.

This first pic was taken on Friday. This is the office where I work right as I got off work. I'm not real happy with the pic, but is the best of the ones I took on Friday. I was very disappointed in all the rest.

This pic from Saturday comes from a prompt I saw on another blog about taking a pic of the grocery store you shop at. This is the Publix we go to most often. It is a very fancy one with a fountain as you pull into the shopping center. This is also the only pic of all the ones I took that I liked.

The other day I posted hibiscus leaves. The pic from Sunday is of flowers from a hibiscus in the front yard. But not the one I took pics of earlier. I love taking pics of flowers in January cause it reminds me of why I love Florida.

Once again, I was at the end of the day and no pic. So, for today, you get a pic of the home depot closest to our house. It only opened a few months ago, but we are frequent visitors. Gotta love The Home Depot. :O)

And that catches me up on posting about the pics I've taken. I hope to do the layouts of the last two weeks this coming weekend. When I do, I'll post them here.

Two Days In One

First, I am glad to hear that I am not the only person with dogs with selective hearing. Its amazing how they never miss the word treat. lol

I am combining two days of pics today as I never had time to come post my pic yesterday, but I did take one. Wednesdays are always very busy for me, so most Wednesday pics will probably be in the same post with most Thursday pics.

Yesterday's pic is a pic of my desk at work. For me, that is a clean desk. (Luckily the big mess is out of view of the camera. lol) Every once in awhile I go through the motions of cleaning it off. But eventually, it goes back to its naturally messy state.

Today's pic was taken with the phone on my camera. Its not the greatest pic, cause my phone doesn't have the greatest camera. This pic is of my hubby playing games on his phone while waiting for our food. This is definitely a daily thing in my life. lol (Luckily, my phone has games too.)

Time to Meet Sazume

Well, none of my early morning shots turned out as I had hoped. So, its time for y'all to meet another one of my dogs, Sazume. She is on the screened porch and I am not, which explains the kind of grey look. I wanted her to come outside, but she was listening well, as usual. lol

Lunch Time View

I noticed someone the other day took a picture of their drive in the rain. Well, that was my inspiration for today's photo. In my case, this is the view from my car window while eating lunch at Sonic. (I love Sonic!) I took pictures from different angles and this is the one I liked the best.

I have to admit that I am loving this challenge. I am photographing all kinds of things I would never have photographed that are a part of my daily life. (Sanosuke, he would have been photographed anyway. lol)

Desperation - Leaves from a Hibiscus

Okay, I almost waited too late to get a photo for today and ended up taking the pics outside after dark. Since I have not perfected that skill yet, I was left without a lot of choices. This picture is of leaves on the hibiscus right outside our front door. I am in love with hibiscus, so including them in my photos is a good idea. Alas, none of the ones in my yard (six plants in the front yard alone) are in bloom. So, you get to look at the leaves today.

Not Feeling Good

I know my blog has been kind of slow lately, but I haven't been feeling well. /ao what blogging I've done has been for Project 365. But I really hope I start feeling better tomorrow as that is when the Amazing Digiscrapping Race 4 begins. You can see what Ginger and I (my partner for the race) are doing for the race here. (Yes, the blog is boring right now, but things will start getting busy this week.) But I promise to do better this week, so that all of my faithful readers (that would be Kayla) have something to read.

Quick Trip to Savannas State Park

We made a quick trip out to Savannas State Park today, so I could take some trips. Neither my dh nor I are feeling great, so we didn't stay long. However, here is my favorite of pictures I took.

As if this will be the last time this year. lol Here is a photo of one of my dogs, Sanosuke. I am sure by the time the year is up you'll have seen lots of pics of my dogs. :O)

First Pic of 2009

Here is my very first pic of 2009. We drove about an hour and a half to go to Whataburger. Its one of our fav fast food places. My chicken strips and gravy were yummy. :O) I've never taken a pic of Whataburger before, so I thought it's be a great choice for my first pic. (You can't tell from the pic, but it was actually pretty busy.)

Project 365

One of my goals for next year is to take part in project 365 where you take a photo a day. If anyone wants to follow my project, the blog is http://scribler-365.blogspot.com. If you are taking part in project 365 in 2009, let me know and I'll add your blog to my blog roll.

Who Reads My Blog

Okay, I added a gadget to my blog that lets you indicate you are following my blog. So, is there anyone out there who wants to claim they follow it? lol Who will be first?

Goal for 2009

For 2009, one of my goals is to take part in Project 365 and take a photo day for all of 2009. Its something I wanted to do in the past, but never did. But with my new camera, I am even more motivated. I have started this blog so I can share my photos with others. Wish me luck in sticking to my goal. :O)

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!! And in the midst of all the hustle and bustle this day brings, please take a moment to remember the true reason we celebrate today, the birth of Jesus Christ!

Christmas Cards

I received my card order today. Alas, the preview they show on the website @ Winkflash doesn't show what it will look like after the card is cropped. :O( Now, my text at the bottom (i.e. Merry Christmas) is cut off along the bottom. If I wanted to return them, they would refund my money. Alas. I don't have time to redo the cards since Christmas is next week. A reprint would do no good, as the cards would have the same problem without a redo. So, I guess I will send them as is. :O( They are giving me a credit toward a future order, which is nice of them. Next year, I am ordering weeks in advance in case I need to send back my cards.

Not Fair

I had big plans for tomorrow night. David and I were going to a fundraiser for the Sungrove Montessori school in Ft. Pierce (No, we don't have children there, obviously. But we have a friend who does.) And there was supposed to be dancing. But now, I am all stuffy and throat is all scratchy and I don't feel good. Not fair. Hoping for a miraculous recovery before tomorrow night.

My Sunday

David was sick, so I had to go to church alone today. I hate going to church alone. I did it for years when I was single and it never bothered me. But now I hate going without David. However, I will have to say that there were some great talks today. I especially enjoined Bro. Melcarne's talk. It really spoke to me. I am so glad I was able to hear it.

Tonight, I went to the Poirier's home to celebrate Cassie receiving her Young Womanhood Recognition. It was a beautiful program. Definitely a great celebration of Cassie's achievements. And the desserts were yummy. I missed having David with me at this activity too.

Overall, it was a really great Sunday for me. :O)

Thanksgiving & Black Friday

Thanksgiving went fine. Nothing went horribly wrong and I did eat some great pie. Bob Evans makes great pumpkin and pecan pies (which is what we contributed to thanksgiving at David's mom's house). Then we went to his sister's house and had yummy apple pie. It was homemade and delicious (probably explains why I ate two pieces). The best part of the day was going to the Ft. Pierce Jetty to take pictures with my camera. I was like a mad woman snapping pictures. We're talking like 300 pictures, so needless to say I am not going to post them all, but here are a few of them.

After some major indecision on my part, we finally got up and headed out for some early shopping on Black Friday. I'll admit that we didn't get the two things we really wanted (an Xbox 360 and a TV for the family room). However, we did get a few good buys. I finally got a replacement for my much too full external hard drive and a copy of Photoshop Elements 7. We also got a GPS for our car. We've been using the GPS on David's phone and have to come to realize how useful it is, so we bought one for the car. David picked up a pair of noise canceling headphones, but I may have to misplace those. lol They are way too effective.

Of course I'd really like someone to explain why I only have access to 698 gb of my 750 gb hard drive. I understand that you always lose a few gigs to formatting etc, but that is a lot of loss. I am really in need of an explanation. Regardless, I am now in the process of moving my stuff from my old drive to the new one, so that David can have the old one.

When I am done with the moving of files, then I will get PSE 7 installed. I still plan to use Gimp for most of the work I do on my layouts, but I'll be using PSE 7 for those things that Gimp just can't do.

Okay, I think I've talked enough. Hope everyone has a great Saturday. (As if there are tons of people reading my blog. lol)

Tessie, You'll be missed.

Tessie, my mom's dog, died last week at the age of 13. She was a big dog, 100 pounds, so that is really old for a dog that age. Before I got married, Tessie and I were best buds. In fact, here is a picture of Tessie and I from about 11 years ago (can't believe the pic is that old *sigh*).

Even thought its been a long time since I saw Tessie on a daily basis (David and I have been married seven years), I am still going to miss her lots. So, I created a layout in tribute to Tessie. Here it is.

Tessie had a great life. She was one spoiled girl. But she will definitely be missed.

Twilight Gal

I'm a Bella! I found out through TwilightersAnonymous.com. Which Twilight Female Are You? Take the quiz and find out!
Take the Quiz and Share Your Results!

And this is how it described Bella. I actually think it fits me pretty well.

You are observant, diplomatic and often aim to please. You are unaware of your
attractiveness and despite being uncomfortable with any form of attention, people enjoy your company. You can be impatient, stubborn and headstrong, but you are true to your word and mature for your age, often taking care of your family and enjoying a good book over chatting with girlfriends on the phone.

I recently purchased a Canon dRebel XS. On Saturday, we went out to Port Mayaca to take some pictures of the sunset over Lake Okeechobee. We barely made it in time. Luckily, we did. And we were well rewarded, as the sunset was beautiful. Definitely a great picture taking opportunity.

I still have a lot of work to do before I am taking really good photos with my new camera. However, I was pretty happy with my first try.

Help With Care Packages To Soldiers

Scrap Orchard is raising money to send care packages to the troops serving overseas who won't be spending their holiday season with their families this year. They are currently about half way to their goal to have the money to send 25 care packages.

In order to raise money, they have created this digital kit called "If Only In My Dreams"

It is currently on sale for $4.00 at Scrap Orchard and will only be available until the end of the month, when it will be retired. If you digi scrap, or even if you've thought about digi scrapping, please consider purchasing "If Only In My Dreams". You can really help make someone's holiday a little brighter.

A Layout To Share

I just wanted to share with y'all a layout I created recently. It was created suing Crazy Spring and Secret Castle Colored Pencil by Mamrotka. I am pretty happy with the way this turned out. I hope my mom likes it when she sees it.

Unwanted Changes

You know, sometimes you only come to realize how much you enjoy something when you realize you might not be doing it for much longer. For anyone who doesn't know, I've been working with the young women (12 - 18) in my church for about a year and a half. Well, the head of the young women's organization is moving, which means my time working with the youg women could be coming to an end. And guess what? I don't want it too. I don't have much control there, as you really don't volunteer for positions in the Church. Rather you are asked to serve. The closer we come to Sunday, which is the current president's last day, the more I doubt that I will still be working with the young women and that is making me sad.

Important Info For Florida Drivers

The state of Florida allows you to add two contacts your driver's license information, so that in an emergency they will know who to contact. This is a result of a teenager's mom not being noitfied for five hours after her daugher was in an accident (they were trying to track her down). Now, you can electronically add two contacts to your driver's license information. This information can only be retrieved by a police officer.

Here's the link if you are interested. I know I think it's a great idea. I've always wondered how my family would find out if something were to happen to both David and I.

Featuring Smokey

Okay, I wanted to share with y'all a recent layout I did of my Smokey. It's not really meant to go in a scrapbook, but rather to be framed and hung in my house. I really think this is my favorite extraction layout so far.

This was created using products from Michelle Batton and Christina Renee Designs. You can see the full credits for the layout here.

A Layout and A Challenge

First, let me share with you my latest layout. It was created using Designs by Sine's SO Multiple Template and Paint the Moon's Pacific Grove kit. I'll have to admit that I am pretty happy with the way this turned out.

Now for that challenge I mentioned. Once again, I am hosting a challenge over at Design by Sine's blog. Last time I did this, I only had one participant. This time, I'd really like to see more. So, even if you only digiscrap occasionally, head on over to Sine's blog and take a look at the challenge. I could really use some participants.

New Layout and A Challenge

First, I wanted to show you one of my latest layouts (click on layout to see full credits). It features, of course, two of my fur babies. Aren't they cute? (And yes, they are bratly too. lol)

Now, I suspect you are wondering where the challenge comes in. I used a template from Designs by Sine in creating this layout. You'll see lots of layouts that include her templates, because I am on her CT (creative team for you non digi scrappers). This week, I am hosting a challenge on her blog. This is my very first time hosting a challenge and I am really worried that no one is going to participate. So, if you've even thought of trying digi scrapping, go check it out. You could even win a prize from Sine. Pretty please!!!

Tropical Storm Fay

I'll have another post about Tropical Storm Fay after I get pics off my camera. However, I had to share this pic from David's camera right away.

We went to work today and after lunch decided to head to Sonic for happy hour (half price cokes). This is what we saw next to the Sonic. The ares you are looking at is normally a drainage area with a small water retention pond. Well, with all the rain, the guy driving the bronco thought it was the entrance to Sonic. According to our car hop at Sonic, he wasn't a very happy camper. Somehow, I am not surprised about that one.

Seven Wonderful Years

David and I celebrate seven wonderful years of marriage today. This is the layout I created of our celebration dinner at The Melting Pot on Saturday.

I have been very blessed to have David as my husband. I could not ask for a better husband. I was 30 when David and I married, but David was well worth the wait. I look forward to many more happy years together.

I Love You David!!

10 Items or Less

I am wondering if people are confused with regards to the meaning of this statement. I am constantly standing behind people who have way more items than the number specified. I understand if you have 11 or 12 items. No big deal. However, when you have 30 or more items, I really think you should realize that you are over the limit. I know that Walmart doesn't have enough checkers. And I know the other lines are long and the people in those lines have full baskets. But I am in a hurry too and I only have eight items. I shouldn't have to wait behind a person with 30 item in their basket when that number three times the stated limit. So please, if you have 30 items in your basket, don't use the line where it is indicated "10 items or less". Your fellow shoppers will appreciate it.

Time for Change

Okay, it was time to let the Magenta go. I am still amazed that T-Mobile had the nerve to cause such a ruckus. However, I couldn't stand looking at all that bright pink any more. :O)

Free Magenta

You may be wondering about my new love for magenta. Well, this is to show my support for an end to all ridiculousness. It seems T-Mobile wants EngadgetMobile.com to cease using the color magenta on it's website as they seem to have a trademark on said color. How ridiculous is that. You can read more about said ridiculousness here and here.

Because I want to speak out against such blatant ridiculousness my blog is now magents. I think the new color is great!!!
