A Layout to Share

Yes, I am back. I have a recent layout I want to share with y'all. This layout is the first dance of David and I as a married couple. (Heck it might be our very first dance altogether.) I thought the colors in Merkeley Designs' "Hey Lady' kit were perfect for scrapping wedding pics. And I love any excuse to scrap our wedding pics. I will say that I am happy with the way this turned out.

Everything I used is from Merkeley Designs.
You can find complete credits for the layout here.

Speaking of Merkeley, she is hosting a Got It challenge in June at Oscraps. The challenge starts June 1st and I recommend all of y'all participate. I don't know exactly what they are doing, but with Jen involved it is bound to be a great challenge. Worried about not having any of Merkeley's "It" products? Well don't be. She has created a sampler of her products to use for the challenge. It's free and can be found at Merkeley Designs or Oscraps.

I am really going to try and better about keeping my blog updated. I feel guilty when I know it is not getting the love it deserves. For now, this is the end, but I really do hope to return soon. :O)

Egg-cited about this Layout

I am pretty excited about this layout. I am actually really happy with the way it turned out. (David not so much. lol) It was a little more work than normal, but I think it was worth it.

(full credits here)

For me, it's pretty rare that the image I have in my head actually works once I get started on the project. This time it did. I am very happy about that.

I've also not been very motivated to scrap lately. It was nice to finally get a layout done. I am working on another right now. Hopefully this is a new trend and not just a shot in the dark. :O)

Regretting Taking Part in So You Think You Can Scrap

When I took part in ADSR 4 (Amazing Digi Scrap Race), I loved it. I loved working with my partner Ginger and it was a wonderful experience for me. So, I decided to take part in So You Think You Can Scrap contest. It's a solo endeavor, but I still thought I would enjoy it. I knew I would win, but I thought it was another chance to stretch my creativity. But now, I am obsessed with how many fewer visits my layout gets than another layout posted about the same time. So the wrong way to look at it, but I can't seem to help myself. And now, I think it is affecting my desire to scrap anything, cause I am behind on my CT projects and before this, I was actually ahead of the game. In the future, I will still compete in future ADSR's, cause it was such a great experience, but think I will avoid more competitive competitions like the one I am in now. They are just not good for me.

Productive Evening

My day seemed like a Monday rather than a Tuesday, but I have had a good evening. After work, I headed to the gym. I was short on time, cause I had to get home to do my taxes, but I still did 30 minutes of cardio. So far, I am really enjoying going to the gym. Who'd have thought. Won't be going tomorrow night, because I have to be at the church @ 7:00 p.m. But I'll be back on Thursday.

After returning from the gym, I did my taxes. Yes, I know I should procrastinate less. lol The good news is that I am getting a refund. Can't complain about that. But I sure don't think I got any credit from the bill Obama signed back in February. Oh well!

I need to work on my layout for So You Think You Can Scrap. But I think I'll do that in the morning and go spend some time with my sweetie!

Joined the Gym

Okay, no one needs to die of shock over this one. The gym near where David and I work had a special for $10 a month each. We decided to go for it. Tonight was our first visit and I really glad we went. Hope to do more cardio tomorrow. Regardless, can't wait to go back.

Celebrating Easter

This is going to be a short post! I just want to share with you a layout I created to celebrate Easter

(Full credits can be seen here.)

I am so grateful that Christ willingly came to this Earth, because of his love for each of us, to pay the price so that I, and everyone, could have the opportunity to return to live with him. What an amazing gift given to all of mankind. We have all been truly blessed.

May everyone have a great day. He is risen!!

I forgot that I do have something tp share

I forgot, I do have something to share with y'all. I was chosen to be a member of the digi creative team for FaithSisters.com. If you're interested, you can see the announcement here. I am pretty excited about this. Anyway, you can see a copy of my Faith Sister's profile here. This weekend, I hope to be creating my first layouts for Faith Sisters. I'll come back and share them when they are completed.

My Life too Boring

I think my life is too boring for a blog! I'm sitting here trying to decide what to blog and I am coming up with squat. Maybe I should make my life more interesting.

I'm still in the So You Think You Can Scrap contest. But I can't show you my layouts, cause it's supposed to be anonymous and there could another scrapper who reads my blog. Otherwise, I'd love to show you what I've done so far.

I have decided that Charlie from Twilight doesn't get enough credit. He is one of the better characters in the movie. I also think Jacob should keep his hair down. The long hair really suits him.

Well, I think I've bored y'all enough for the day. I'll be back later with more.

A New Layout from Me

Y'all might remember the quickpage I created awhile back. Well, I decided someone might as well use it, so I created a page with it. The photo is from when David and I went to Morikami Gardens in February 2008.

I used Michelle Batton's My Little Goldfish kit, alpha and add-on to create the layout.

I've also decided to tryout for the Faith Sister's Digital Creative Team. As part of the application process, we had to create a layout using the kits being submitted for their design team contest. Here is my submission.

Because of their contest to choose some new designers for the store, there are a number of great kits available for free. You can find them at Faith Sisters.

Well, I am off to go spend some time with David. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday evening!

Romanza by Cinzia Loosemore

I am in love with this new kit, Romanza, from Cinzia Loosemore.

It would be a great kit for scrapping pics of David and I together. Or even just David (which are my fav to scrap). This is just such a perfect kit for those romnatic photos that I thought y'all might want to check it out as well.

My LIttle Goldfish Freebie

One of the designers for whom I am a creative team member, Michelle Batton, has released a new kit called My Little Goldfish. It is an awesome kit. There are a number of new products associated with the kit. You can see them all at the blog for her personal store, MellowButterfly.

As part of this new release, she is putting together a quickpage team and I am trying out. Here is the quickpage I created using My Little Goldfish.

Part of what will determine if I make the team is how many people download my quickpage. So, if you like my page, head on over to MellowButterfly and pickup my quickpage. It's free.

Please note, you can add it to your cart or there is a direct download link on the page at Michelle's shop, if you want to go that route. :O)

The People of Australia Need Your Help

I am taking a break from the pictures that I normally post to ask for your help.

The last count I saw, the death toll from the bush fires stood at over 170. The fires that have erupted are devastating Australia and they need our help. Please take a moment to donate via The Salvation Army or The Australian Red Cross. If everyone who read this gave even $5.00 it could make such a difference. So, if you have even a little to spare, please consider donating.

I suspect you are wondering why I am interested in this. In the digi scrapping community I have "met" so many wonderful people from Australia and they are asking for our help. I feel this is an extremely worthy cause, so wanted to ask my blog readers to join me in donating a few dollars to help those in need.

Thank you!

Jan 26- Jan 29

Okay, I am going to do a few days at a time or I will keep procrastinating cause I am so far behind. lol

This first picture is from January 26th. This is the day my DH finally took possession of his motorcycle. Needless to say I took a lot of pics of that day. I had a hard time deciding which picture to use, cause I took so many. I finally decided to go with this picture of him with the keys in hand, cause the bike is finally his.

This picture from the 27th is of the book I purchased to learn how to use my Canon XS better. Now I need to do more with it than just photograph it. Ironically, this picture was actually taken using my Kodak ZD710.

On the 28th, it was class activity day, which means each age group had their own activity. The Beehives (age 12 - 13) made altered notebooks. They had a lot of fun decorating their notebooks. Here are the three Beehives with their final products.

And finally, for the 29th, here is the same rose I photographed a few days ago. Now it is in full bloom. It is so pretty, I wanted to add it to the mix.

Okay, I'll be back tomorrow with more pictures of the day. And in a couple of days I'll be all caught up and hope to go back to doing one picture each day.

Time 4 An Update

Wow, I've let a little too much time pass since I last posted on my blog. Not sure what all I should post about. But lets start with the big news. We got David a 1977 Honda CB 750 K. He is so happy to have it. I haven't been on the back of it yet. But he wants to take it to have a little bit of work done by a friend of ours before I get it on it. He is a good hubby. Here is a pic from Saturday with him on the bike.

This past Friday, we went to see The Frog and The Toad at a local high school. We knew a couple of the young women in it. I really did think it was a cute play and Reva and Bailey did an awesome job with the choreography.

Last Wednesday, I helped the Beehives make altered notebooks. I am pretty sure they had a lot of fun. They seemed like they were having fun anyway.

I think these are the highlights of this week. Let me know if you think I missed something important. lol

Pics from Thursday - Sunday

This first picture was taken today. I just love the look of the yellow rose against the dark background. With the cold spell we've had lately, its nice seeing these signs of spring.

This is the motorcycle we purchased for my husband on Saturday. It is a 1977 Honda CB750 K. We'll be picking it up tomorrow. This is something he has been wanting for quite awhile, so I am glad we were able to get it.

Yes, my hubby is featured two days in a row. This really shouldn't be surprising. Its more surprising he's not in every pic. lol Here he is with one of his favorite pastimes, reading about airplanes. In this instances, it is airplane engines.

Its Girl Scout cookie time here. Don't these look yummy!! So far, I've purchased seven boxes. But that number may go up. lol

My car has a display of the outside air temperature. This is what it read at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. Talk about cold!! And I was wearing sandals. lol

Girls Scout Cookies

Girl Scout cookies are evil. I tell you they are. I opened my first box of what should be Samoas, but since I live in a council that uses the ABC Bakery instead of the Little Brownie Baker, are Caramel Delightes and the box has already forced me to eat five cookies. That's right, five cookies. So mean that box of cookies was too me. I may have to teach that box a lesson and eat the whole thing right away. lol

Peaceful Transition of Power

Today, the 44th President of the United States of America. This day is truly historic, not just because Barack Obama was elected, but because of what his inauguration represents. It represents a peaceful transition of power. This is something that we in the United States are privileged to experience every four years. Yet there are many in the world who have never known a peaceful transition of power. How truly amazing that this peaceful transition of power has gone on for over 200 years. How blessed we really are to be in this great country.

I had to work today, so I was only able to listen to the inauguration of my XM Radio. I thought Obama gave a good speech. Not an amazing one, but a good one. I did really enjoy this quote from his speech.

The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

As President Obama take office. I am interested to see where the next four years will take us. I know I am not going to agree with everything he does. I've never agreed with everything any President has done. But whatever happens, I hope the next four years are ultimately filled with prosperity and happiness for this country.

Playing Catch Up

I am even more behind this time than I am last time I had to play the catch up game. So, I am going to get on with the descriptions.

This first picture, taken 1-20-2009, is of my XM Radio connected to my iPod speakers. This is how I was able to listen to the inauguration today, on the POTUS channel on XM Radio. I had to work today and I did not want to miss the inauguration. In the United States, we are privileged to experience every four years a peaceful transition of power. This is something many people throughout the world never have the opportunity to experience, so this is something for which we should be grateful. That is why I chose to capture my method of experiencing another peaceful transition.

This picture was taken of the brand new Circuit City about 15 minutes from our house was taken on 1-19-2009. It's been open less than six months and now it will be closing its doors forever. I have always had an inexplicable fondness for Circuit City, so I am sad that they are closing. So, I wanted to get a picture of the sign on the Circuit City store.

Most of my pictures are taken using my Canon dRebel XS. However, on Sunday morning I absolutely loved the look of the sky near hour home, so I definitely wanted to take some pics. My Kodak ZD710 was more readily available at the time, so I used it instead. I must say I am really happy with the way this came out.

This is one of the pics I took on Ssturday. I am always looking to get a good shot of the flag as I love what she represents. I must say I am happy with this one.

I took this pic of a doggy toy on Friday evening. Do you see what is missing? The poor dogs legs. Do you know when my dogs got this toy? On Christmas day. My dogs are so rough on toys. Very few toys can handle the stress. I've found the original Loofah dogs to be the best option so far.

I'll admit this is another desperation shot. This is my car's dashboard at night. One of the reasons I fell in love with my car is because the dashboard glowed bright red. So, why not get that on record. :O)

Congrats!! You made it to the end of my post. I really appreciate your sticking around to look at all of my pics!
