New Layout to Share

I just want to share my most recent layout. These roses were part of my Valentines Day gift in 2005. They were so pretty that I decided to give them their own layout. I think I'll have to have a scrapbook just about the flowers David has given me.

Bok Tower

Yesterday, David and I made our second trip to Bok Tower. (Our first was back in 2003, I think.) This is a place we really enjoyed going. And we realized that it's really much bigger than we thought. The first time, I think we missed a lot of the trails. I don't think we missed anything yesterday. If you're coming to Florida, it's a sight that should be considered. And it's less than hours drive from Walt Disney World.

I took lots of pics yesterday, so I wanted to share them with you.

Being Nice

I think it's time we make a change in this world. I want to see the nice people rewarded for a change. I am tired of living in a world where complainers are rewarded and people who are nice get the shaft. I want to see it reversed. Lets see fees waived for those who are nice. Lets see the person who didn't complain get the reward for a change. I know that this world operates around the philosophy that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Well I'd like to see this change. Anyone with me on this?

Mitt Romney Suspends Campaing

Mitt Romney suspended his campaign for President today. I am very disappointed. I want to make sure everyone gets a chance to read his speech today. It is an excellent example of why Governor Romney should have been the Republican candidate for President. I hope everyone takes the time to read it.

Morikami Museum & Gardens

Yesterday, for David's birthday we went to the Morikami Museum and Gardens. It was beautiful, so I wanted to share some of the pics we took.

Too Cute

 

I just wanted to share with you the layout I just completed. This picture of Sanosuke was too cute, to I had to make a layout featuring him. The layout was created using Boy oh Boy by Cindy Doerksen.

So Disappointed

We used to have real problem with our middle dog Sazume digging under the fence and leaving the yard. However, it has been almost a year since she last did that and I was actually trusting her. And really she had shown that she was worthy of such trust. Last week, we went to work and accidentally left her crate door and the doggie door to the outside open. We came home and Sazume had been a good girl while we were gone. I was so proud of how good she had been lately. But tonight, she disappointed me.

I am truly so surprised she did it. Not only because she had been so good lately, but because she is a big chicken about the dark. She normally doesn't even like to go outside with David after dark (although she had finally gotten to where she would go on a walk, for awhile she wouldn't even do that).

Sazume is back home safe and sound. But I am so disappointed in her. And when I think about what could have happened to her running around at night. She's almost pure white, but still the thought of what could have happened to her makes me want to cry.

Now, I am back to not trusting her. It makes me sad, but I don't have another choice. It'll be a long time, if ever, before I trust her again. :O(

My Best Friend

 

I really like this layout, so I wanted to share.

I created this layout for the December template challenge at K-Joi Studios. It's supposed to be a Christmas card challenge, but since I've already ordered mine, so I did this instead. If you haven't done your Christmas cards yet, this is an easy way to get them done.

All papers are from the Cafe Latte paper pack by Deanna Tafoya. The heart is by Kim Higueria and the template is from Rose McDigital Designs. The font I used is A&S Black Swan.

Just Wanted to Share

 

 

This layout is from when David and I went to the Andretti Thrill Park in Melbourne, Florida for the 4th of July. David loved the Go Karts. I was more in to the Laser Tag and Miniature Golf. We had a good time and David finally got to do something he has wanted to do for a long time. This layout was created using "Be Bold" by Cindy Doerksen. This picture was taken last Christmas at my mom's house. It's a picture of something extremely rare, all three dogs sleeping at once. :O) This layout was also made with the "Be Bold" kit.

Gideon Bibles - A Thing of the Past?

I was just reading this Newsweek article regarding the removal of the Gideon Bible from many hotel chains. In fact, many of these chains instead offer intimacy kits. Depending on what is in these kits, they might be a fun thing to offer, but I don't see why they need to replace the Bible with these offerings. I suspect there are many married couples who, when traveling without kids, might like having both items available. It would probably be best if you had to request one of these kits, simply because parents don't want to have to explain to their children the purpose of the intimacy kits.

The article seems to imply that those of the Generation X age or younger are not interested in Bibles. I know for a fact that is not true. I am a member of Generation X, as is my husband, and the Bible is very important to both of us. I know one of the first things I look for when getting a hotel room is the Gideon Bible. I much prefer the King James Version of the Bible, yet I always look for that Gideon Bible. I want it to be there.

Of course, I was very surprised that the spokesman for Marriott hotels would say their new boutique hotel chain venture would be less values oriented. Somehow, I don't think Mr. Marriott would approve of that. At least I hope this is the case.

According to the American Family Association, the Accor hotel chain, which is the parent company of Motel 6, is among the chains removing the Gideon Bible. I find that very sad indeed.

The Newsweek article also states the Gideon Bibles in hotel rooms is down 19%. I truly find that sad. I never thought I'd see the day when there are not Gideon Bibles in hotel rooms. I hope this is a trend that soon comes to an end.

This is my latest layout. It is created using Ravishing in Red by Connie Prince at K-Joi Studios. I am particularly proud of this layout, so I wanted to share it will all of y'all.

A 1000 Words

This is my latest layout. It features one of the best pics I've every gotten of any of my fur babies. This is Sanosuke is January of this year. He is in the backseat of the Little 3.

The kit is called Two Solitudes. It is by She's Full of Scrap and will be available November 1 at Gotta Pixel. I love the colors in this kit. I also think the huge raffia wrap is great.

I am in love with game, so I wanted to share it with all of y'all.

Budgie Food

I finally found something my budgies like to eat besides seed. I know, it's amazing. Y'all are all shocked beyond belief. lol But really, these budgies are extremely picky eaters. I've tried tons of things with them, including foods every other fid loves, but no it's not for them. However, I have a success story. The food my budgies will eat is called Tropimix. It's from Hagen and this is how it is described on their website.

Finally, A New Layout

 
This is my first digi layout in some time. I created it for a blog challenge from One Of A Kind Scrapz. This may not be my best layout ever, but it's the first one I've done in a long time, so I am glad I did the challenge. I plan to add this layout to my Book of Me. Family Search Indexing

About two weeks ago, I began working on the LDS Church's Family Search Indexing project. The project is to extract information from old records so that people working on their genealogy or family history can use this information in their search. I've only done about 200 names, but I just find the little bit of information I see so fascinating. I wish I knew more about all of these people. I wonder about the poor mother who has had so many children die or why a woman was still single in to her late 20s. (Remember these are old records, so it would have been odd for the time.) Anyway, I really do find it very interesting.

Family History Work Continues

The birth certificate for hubby's maternal grandmother arrived today. I was so excited. In fact, I am pretty sure I was more excited than he. And I did gain some valuable information as I now know the name of my husband's maternal great-grandmother, Emma M Hauck. I hope to be able to get farther on his mother's family line now, but for today I am just excited to finally have this information.

I also want to give kudos to the City of New York. They make it so easy to order a birth certificate as you can do it online without having to pay a third party. I have not found another city or state, including New York state that give you this option. I think it's great that New York City has provided this option, so I wanted to make mention of it here.

Some People Just Have Nerve

Some people just have too much nerve. I don't know if it is that there ego is just so large. Or if it's that they are just too arrogant. Or if it's that they are just too stupid. Or maybe a combination of the three. Well, let me tell you about somebody who has just really gotten to me today.

Okay, my husband loves Slashdot. I would say the majority of slashdotters are not real friendly toward religion of any kind and I don't mean just Christianity (as the following discussion will show). Part of the discussion of life on Mars moved into a discussion on religion Part of this discussion just has me flabbergasted. Here's the pertinent parts of the discussion (you can read the original story and entire thread here.)

I'm an atheist. A few weeks ago, a Christian friend asked me, "When you look out at the night sky, across billions of light-years of interstellar space filled with billions of worlds we haven't even imagined yet, aren't you a little afraid that you might be wrong?"

Person C then replies: back (and this is the scary part):

Gandhi, Sister Theresa, and Cardinal Tutu could have achieved more if they spent more time on learning reality, rather than fantasy. I'm not saying they didn't achieve great things; I am saying that they would have had more time in their lives. As you imply, I could do more also (I could be programming instead of typing this, and I could have rejected fantasy-based thinking for scientific thinking earlier in my lifetime).

What I don't understand is how anyone could have the nerve to say that Gandhi, Mother Teresa or Desmond Tutu could have done more. There is only one man who would have the right to make that judgment and Person C is not that man. I can't even imagine thinking such a thing, better yet saying it. I know I am not worthy to make that statement. I am just so shocked that Person C thinks he is that special.

Why not give him a chance to play again? Seriously how many chances has the NFL given to Ricky Williams? Smoking pot is against the law, but he's been given a number of chances, and STILL isn't banned from the NFL!

How many people really think that smoking pot is the same as what Michael Vick did to those poor dogs? Those people are just nuts. Yes, smoking pot is illegal. And yes, it is wrong. However, it is not now, nor will it ever be, the same as torturing and killing dogs. Period. End of statement.

Facebook - My New Obsession

I've been on Facebook for awhile, bot over the past few days I've really gotten into it. There is actually a lot of fun stuff to do. I originally thought it was kind of boring, but now I think it is way better than MySpace.

One of the things that I like about Facebook is that you can invite your friends to get involved in the same Facebook activities that you are involved in. So, I have been having a lot of fun the last few days.

Michael Vick - Banned for Life

This is exactly what I want to see happen to Michael Vick. He deserves this and so much more for what he did to those poor dogs. A man like that should not be allowed to play in the NFL. What Michael Vick did was plain evil and now he should get his just reward. And his just reward should be more than time spent in prison. He should be banned for life from playing professional football.

I know what some people think. They think we should overlook what he did, because he has apologized to all the people he has hurt. Well, when do I read about his apology to the dogs he hurt? They are the ones who truly suffered here. Plus, he should be sorry. Even if he really means it, and is not just saying it, repenting of a wrong does not mean that you get to avoid the consequences of having done something wrong. And one of those consequences should be a permanent ban from professional football.

Please take the time to contact the
NFL, Commissioner Goodell and your favorite team and urge each of them to seek a ban for life for Michael Vick. He deserves no less.

Happy Anniversary!!!

Today, my sweetie and I celebrate our 6th anniversary. I know there are a lot of people out there who didn't think we'd make it this far (we met online in an IRC chat room members of the LDS church). I was watching either the Democratic or Republican National Convention (I usually watch both) in 2000 and talking to another member about it. This interested my sweetie, so we started talking and now here we are celebrating our 6th anniversary.

I am so happy to be married to my sweetie. He really is the perfect husband for me. I didn't get married until I wad 30, but he was definitely worth the wait. I am also so grateful that we were married for time and all eternity, so that our marriage will last beyond this life. I really wouldn't want to think of our marriage ending on the day that one of us dies. That would be so sad.

Tonight, we are going to The Melting Pot in Melbourne to celebrate. We went last year for my birthday and the food there is so yummy. I've been looking forward to this for weeks.

My one disappointment is that my sweetie's main gift won't be here for another month. I think he'll be really happy when I tell him what it is, I just wish I had it to give to him today. (I would say what I got here, but he might read this before I have a chance to tell him.)

Anyway, today we celebrate six years of marriage and I for one hope to have many more anniversaries to celebrate many more anniversaries together.

Movie Preferences

So, if you and your significant other are going to layout $30 to go to the movies (which is what it'll cost you if you add drinks and popcorn), which type of movie do you prefer to go see? That's my poll question for the week, so be sure to take a moment to vote.

Just so everyone knows my preference, I really believe it's "comedy". I enjoy dramas, science fiction, mysteries and romances (not much of a thriller girl), but I love comedies. I love to go see a movie where I laugh a lot. We went to go see Evan Almighty a few weeks ago and I loved it, because it was just so funny. I didn't expect to like it and I did. So, as much as I enjoy most types of movies, I really believe comedies really are my favorite.

The Beginning of a Journey

Six years ago today, my dh David flew to Dallas so we could be married. Six years ago we picked up our marriage license, went to Six Flags with my sister and brother-in-law and then ate at Razoo's with the aforementioned sister and bil, as well as my mom.

I picked David up at the Airport around 10:00 a.m. We then headed in to Denton to pick up our marriage license. After that, we headed up to Frisco to meet up with my sister and bil to Six Flags. David had never been and I hadn't been in years. We had a blast. I even rode three roller coasters, including Batman (I've never had the never to ride another coaster since). On the way home from Six Flags, we called my mom to see if she wanted to meet us for dinner, so we all went to Razoos as I had not yet had the opportunity to take David to that restaurant and it was one of my favorites.

It's hard to believe that all of that was six years ago. I remember how excited I was to be at Six Flags with my future hubby. It was just so awesome for me. I was just so happy that day.

Normally, I am not one who is very good with mental pictures. That is probably why I love scrapbooking. However, that day is just so vivid in my mind. Probably cause I had so much fun and was just so truly happy.

This coming Saturday, David and I will celebrate our sixth anniversary. There is not a day goes by that I am not grateful for David and that I don't give thanks that he is my hubby. I was truly blessed when David came in to my life.

I Miss My Teaching Partner

Up until about a month ago, my hubby and I taught Primary (the little children) together. I loved it. Then about a month ago, they called him to be Sunday School President. And it just doesn't seem right that he's not there. He was so great with the kids. Really, he's much better with them than me. Not that I don't love Primary. I do. I think it's the best place in the Church to serve. I just think my hubby does much better with the kids than me. He is just a natural with them. I just don't think the class is going to be as good with me teaching it every week. Hopefully, I'll do a good job without him.

Pres. James E. Faust

A member of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints passed away early this morning, James E. Faust. You can learn a little bit about his passing here.

I'll have to say that I am sad to hear of his passing. I really enjoyed his talks, not because of his presentation, but I loved what he had to say. And he really did have a good sense of humor.

One of my favorite talks by President Faust was What It Means to be a Daughter of God. When this talk came out, I was still single and this talk really meant a lot to me and it has always stuck with me.

I know President Faust is in a much tetter place now, but I will miss listening to him in General Conference.

One of My Fav CDs

It's been missing for awhile, but I recently found it, so I was able to listen to it again. I know y'all are thinking this must be a George Strait album, y'all would be wrong. This is the music from Les Miserables. I love that album. The music just speaks to me. I swear I could play that album over and over again and never tire of listening ot it.

Three or four years ago, I was lucky enough to see a Les Miserables touring company in West Palm and I was not disappointed. In fact, it was absolutely everything I had hoped for. I had wanted to see it for so many years, I figured it could never live up to my dreams. This time I was wrong. It was exactly how I hoped it would be. Really, it was one of my dreams come true.

Well, I now have both CDs on my iPod, so I won't even have to take time to switch CDs. I am so happy. In fact, I listened to the whole album this evening and would listen again, if only I had the time.

Success!!

Last night I was successful in getting the emailer working properly. I am so happy about this. I was really worried that I might never get it working properly. So, it's a good start for my day. (I wasn't positive until this morning that it worked.)

Frustration!

I spent half my day at work making sure that we could send out an email to all of our customers about a new seminar. My tests were going fine. Then, when I go to send to all my customers. Nothing. It does not work at all. :O( (Oh it told me I successful, but that was a lie.) It's been three hours since I sent that email and I haven't received nary one copy of it. *sigh*

Then, while I am preparing to write this little post, my keyboard decides spasmodics would be a good idea. It's through throwing it's fit now. Thankfully.

Anyway, I wonder what will go wrong next.

Spoiled Cat's Life

My cat, Lorenzo, is too spoiled. She only wanted to eat Kit 'n' Kaboodle, and I tried everything, but no go. No Science Diet, No Nutro Natural, nothing. Until I provided her with Wellness cat food topped with USDA quality freeze dried chicken. She came to love Wellness w/ or w/o the chicken. Fast forward to a couple of days ago, when her mommy, that's me, forgot to stop for more Wellness. So, I decided to surprise her with Kit 'n' Kaboodle. But now, she's too good for Kit 'n' Kaboodle unless it's topped w/ chicken. *sigh* This is one spoiled cat.

Just Have to Share

I have made a huge discovery today in my family history. Quite a bit of research on my mother's side has been done. Well, today, I was able to find a lot of information on my Dad's side. My great-grandmother was Margie Jane Beason and I was able to find information going back paster her great-grandfather this evening. I am just so excited. I have never had much success on my Dad's side, so this is huge for me. I know this probably won't sound exciting to most people, but I am very excited.

Family History Calls Me

I woke up this morning with a desire to work on my family history. I am not sure why, but I have just been really interested in working on it. I have made a little progress. Probably would have made more if Ancestry.com wasn't having problems processing orders. Ugh!!! I was able to locate a library with a few obituaries I could request, so I have done that and hopefully I will hear back soon, so I can make further progress.

This is not the first time I've started work on family history. I usually get frustrated when I don't make much progress. Hopefully the info I was able to find today will help me maintain interest in the long term.

As we celebrate the birthday of the United States, I just want to take a moment to share how grateful I am to live in this country and to be able to enjoy such great freedom. I know that it is a blessing and once for which i am truly grateful.

I also want to take a moment to thank those men and women who are willing to serve our country. It is because of the sacrifices of men and women willing to serve their country in the past and today that we are able to enjoy such freedems and for that I feel like I must say thanks.

Just a little sad

For the first time, I've had to delete a comment on my blog. Someone tried to use their comment as a means to get others to come to their blog. That wouldn't bother me, but it was porn related. I did not want that associated with my blog. That someone would use my blog that way, makes me a little sad. I should expect it, but this is the first time that has happened. Oh well. Sadly, I am sure it won't be the last.

At last, Sonic!!!

Finally, after being patient for nearly six years (that's how long I've been in Florida), there is a Sonic less than 15 minutes from my house. I guess it's been there almost a month, but I just found out last night. (It's not in the town I actually live in, but the town next to mine.) Anyway, we went last night and I am so happy. I love Sonic and it's one of the things I've really missed since I moved to Florida. And I am not the only one who wanted one. We've heard people were camped out for opening day. I know it was busy last night. Anyway, I just wanted to share how happy I am about Sonic being near by.

Goodbye Amor

 
 
These pictures, taken last week, are of Amor and her mate Poseidon (Po). Amor is the lovie with yellow coloring. Day before yesterday Amor passed away during the night.

Amore came to live with us after she was already an adult. We were in a pet store in Melbourne, FL and there was Amor. Her owner, who used to work there, was giving her up to make way for a nursery (don't get me started on that one). So, Amor was for sell for $50, which included her cage and toys. She was so frightened and I felt so bad for her that we paid for her and took her hom. But I'm afraid ww were never able to conquer her fear of humans, so after about a year, we had the opportunity to adopt Po and we took it. They have been madly in love ever since.

I am so sad that she has passed on. Amor was never mean, inspite of her fear. And even after her and Po became a couple, she never became the mean, bitey bird that I have so often heard about. Amor was just a very sweet bird and she will be sorely missed. Amor is not alone on the other side, as Micron and Valentine are waiting for her, as is Lady our bassett/beagle mix.

I do worry about Po, he looks so lonely in that cage. In awhile, we will probably seek a new mate for Po, but not right away. I really do believe he'll want another friend. Po and Amor were such a cute couple.

Great Customer Service

For you digi scrappers, I just wanted to post about the great customer service I got from Blue Flombingo. I had some problems downloading the files I purchased, but they really went out of their way to make sure I was able to get all of the files I purchased.

It seems like these days you only hear about bad customer service, so I wanted to take a moment to mention the good customer service I received.

Help Save a Dog

Daisy is a dog who doesn't deserve to die. She is a puppy whose owner made a mistake and left her alone outside a store. An elderly lady came outside. The puppy got excited, jumped on the woman and the woman was hurt. Notice I didn't say bit or attached, just jumped on her like most puppies would. Now, we can debate the actions of the owner all day, but the dog was just being a puppy. So, you may ask, what is the crime Daisy committed? She is part pit bull. And so, it has been determined she needs to die. Although if a full-blooded poodle had behaved in the same way, no one would be saying this. So, please take a moment to read more about Daisy by clicking the link below and then sign the petition to save her life. They are trying to gather 1000 signatures and I'd like to see them meet their goal as Daisy does not deserve to die.

Yes, I have been gone awhile

My husband was really sick at the beginning of the year and I just didn't have time or blog. Since then I just haven't had the desire. However, recently, I've wanted to get back to it, so here I am. Now, if I only had something exciting to tell you about. lol However, I am going to try and stay on the blog train here and will be back soon. Hopefully with something to talk about. :O)

Meet Spike

Everyone, meet Spike. He's a Mali Uromastyx. Our beloved Uromastyx Isabella passed away recently and we were very sad. Yesterday, we went in to the store where we got Spike. We weren't really planning on getting a lizard, we just wanted to look. Well, Spike just came sauntering up to the front of his aquarium and we just loved that. So, we met Spike and decided to make him part of our family. Just as Isabella did, Spike lives at our office. He's a young one, a little over 4 months and so active. He's definitely very interested in what's going on in my office. I sm so glad to have Spike at work with me again.

I'm Still Alive

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still alive. Since we returned from vacation, I just haven't been spending much time on the computer. (So weird for me.) If you aren't on the computer, it's hard to update one's blog. :O)

We had a good trip to vacation. Ate way too much, but my mom made all of my favorite foods. And my dogs loved being spoiled by the grandma. The time just seemed to pass so fast. It seemed like we had just gotten there and we already had to head home, when we had actually been in TX for like 10 days. Well, maybe next time we can go for longer.

Well, I am off to see if I can wrest the remote from my hubby so that I can watch either "Bleach" or "Rurouni Kenshin".

It's New Car City

 
 
My dh and I are the proud owners of a Mazda3s Touring edition hatchback. And we really like it. It really is very zoom-zoom. It's just fun car to drive. We purchased it on 11/11 and brought it home on 11/13. And we've been enjoying it ever since. I highly recommend this car. Plus, we got a great deal. It was $20,500 out the door. Such a great price.

This means we are once again a two-car family. We really haven't been one since the early days of our marriage. It's actually kind of weird to think we can go different places at the same time. But we still mostly go everywhere together. :O)

And to see if my sweetie ever reads my blog, I just want to tell him that I love him. 

BYU is Ranked

Okay, I am back. And with excellent news. BYU's football team is ranked #25. That's right #25. All I have to say is "BYU Rules".

I am so sad

In the whole scheme of things, the reason I am sad isn't a very big thing. I don't want to go into it all, because it will just upset me more. But I am very sad right now. (Maybe in a couple of days I can explain why.)

Vote Tomorrow!!!

I cannot stress how important it is that everyone in the United States vote tomorrow. If you are not yet registered to vote, it's too late for tomorrow. So, instead of voting, get registered to vote. That way, this will be the last time that you do not vote.

We are so blessed have the right to vote. Yet so many of us do not take advantage of that opportunity. Please do not be one of those people. Vote tomorrow. It does matter.

Which Car Should We Buy

Okay, my hubby and I are looking to become a two car family. Unless we can drive the Nissan Versa before we are able to make a final decision, we have narrowed down our choices to two cars: Toyota Matrix or Mazda 3 (five door version). For us, there are pros and cons to each one. So, if you have any experience with either car, please share it. I wish I could buy them both. lol

I will have to say while car shopping yesterday we did run into quite the deal on a mini-van, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to get it. It was a 2005 Kia Sedona that was brand new, but had never sold. So, they were offering $10,000 off the asking price so it was $19,000 for a mini van w/ leather, DVD player for the rear seats. Nice mini van. But just not what we wanted.

But please any experiences you have with the Matrix or Sedona, please share them.

Vote No on Prop 3 in Florida

First of all, elections nationwide are this coming Tuesday. So, no matter where you live, please take a few moments and go vote. It is so important that you do.

NOw, if you happen to be from Florida or if you know someone from Florida, please urge them to vote against Prop 3 in Florida. Prop 3 is being advertised is as a means of saving our state Constitution. It's not. Instead, it's an attempt to take away the rights of Floridians to make important decisions regarding our state's future.

It seems our legislature does not like to pass bills that the majority of Floridians support, such as the ban on Smoking, the Save our Homes act, a minimum wage increase and a limit on fees in medical malpractice suits. I know that the Save Our Homes act did not receive the 60% of votes required by Prop 3, even though more than 55% voted yes. Without this act, many long-time residents could no longer afford the taxes on their homes and would be forced out. You can view this Cener Stage blog to read an important article on Prop 3 from the Miami Herald.

I think it's critical that Prop 3 does not pass. So, please consider and tell you friends to consider voting against Prop 3 in Florida on Tuesday, November 7th.

New Fridge

Well, yesterday we had to buy a new fridge. Ours decided to give up the ghost on Saturday night. We knew it was dying just wanted it to last awhile longer. My hubby bought it used when he had the house built 8 years ago. So really, it performed quite admirably.

I was a little bummed about having to buy the new fridge, because we didn't quite yet have the money to buy the one we really wanted. However, we actually came really close. We found am $1800 fridge for $800. That rocked. And it wasn't from Home Depot or Lowe's. There is this store called Jetsons that is only in our area and has like three stores. Well, there prices were no more expensive than any of the big box stores and they could get it to us much quicker. We bought it yesterday and it is arriving today. :O)

So, we are now going to have a side by side fridge with ice and water in the door. That is one of the things I've missed since I got married. So, I am back in business there.

Yummy

Yesterday, my hubby to me to the Melting Pot for my birthday. It was yummy. We got the big night out. It's a four course meal. The first course was cheese fondue. The second was salad. I had a mushroom salad that was brimming with mushrooms. Yummy!!! Then we had a meat fondue for our main course. And for dessert, chocolate turtle fondue. It was so good. I had never been before,butfore,but I definitely enjoyed myself.

I got my gifts today, which is my actual bday. From my hubby, I got two DS Lite games, Super Mario Brothers and Animal Crossing. I also got money towards a new digi camers. My mom gave me money for the camera as well. Plus money to go out to dinner with my hubby. So, sushi is calling my name. A new place has opened up not too far from my house, so we will be checking that place out courtesy of my mom. :O)

Not too much else to tell. Hope all of my friends are having a great Sunday!!

Disappointment but happiness too

I didn't make the second CT I tried for, but you know what I am not as bummed as I had expected. For a brief moment I was bummed, but then I just went on. So not like me. I think it's cause I really love being on Steph's design team. I really like her designs. I think having someone else choose me made it much easier to accept the rejection. And usually I just don't do well with things like this.

Yesterday, I opened a MySpace account yesterday. Mostly because my hubby invited me to do so. Well today, I was contacted by some friends I haven't been in touch with for eight years. That was cool. And to think I had just opened my account. If anyone who reads this blog has an account, feel free to become my friend.

On Monday, I am starting a Biggest Loser challenge on one of my digi forums. I have totally not been motivated to diet lately, so hopefully this will get me back in gear. I do have a very competitive streak.

I am so excited, cause I made
Stephanie Braccolo's CT. The layout here is my first layout for the CT. I have been holding on to this picture for awhile and I think it's the perfect picture for this kit. I am very excited to be on her team. Thanks to Stephanie for inviting me to be on her team.

In other good news, yesterdsay was my husband and I's 6th anniversary of our first date. So, we went to Olive Garden to celebrate as that is where we had our first date. AFterwards, we went to Targer and my sweetie got me a Harry and David's Moose Cruch Bar. It was very yummy. I can highly recommend those.

Also, we recently learned that our car loan will be paid off in January. That mean's we can finally afford a second car and become a two car family. Yeah!!!!

Well, I am going to try publishing this again. Blogger just ate my last attempt. Ugh!!! 

Skye is at the Bridge

One of my budgies, Skye, went to the Rainbow Bridge this morning. I'm not sure how old she was. We had her for close to five years and we adopted her when she was already an adult. Our budgies are very bonded to each other, but Skye was still among the sweetest. I am so sad that she is no longer with us.

The good news for Skye is that I am sure she is busy flying again. A couple of years ago, she got out while we were at work. We aren't sure exactly what happened, but we came home to find her with no feathers on her back. While the feathers did return, she was never able to fly again. So, I know she is really enjoying herself right now.

I truly believe that our animals do go to Heaven and that they are waiting for us. I am still so sad that she is gone, but I know that she is happy now. Here's a poem that always makes me cry, but I still love it.

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. Oh The Things We Do

But it has so reminded me how I hated the annual tubing trip. I was miserable the whole time. And yet I went every single year. I felt that since it was the church's youth trip. Everyone else who went loved it. I don't think I needed to, but back then I really felt I did. I really wish I wouldn't have gone, because I don't have a single good memory regarding the trips, because I hated tubing so much. It was cold and wet. Plus I hated the actual act of tubing. Just not a good thing to me.

Now, you must wonder why I am going on and on about something that happened more than 20 years ago. Well, it makes me wonder how many of us are doing things we really don't want to do, simply because it's expected. It may not even be necessary tha twe do these things, but we still do, because we feel compelled to do them. I obviously did growing up. And I bet I am still doing it today. 

True Christ Like Love

How the Amish have dealt with the tragedy has truly amazed me. I don't know that I could be so forgiving. I know that I should absolutely be that forgiving, but I just don't know that I could. And amidst all that I have read regarding this tragedy, what I ready today just touched me beyond belief.

The oldest Amish girl to be killed, Marian Fisher who was 13, asked to be shot first. She wanted to try and buy some time for the younger girls. That is so absolutely brave and selfless that it moves me to tears. What an amazing girl. She showed more bravery than may adults would do in the same situation. Truly amazing. And an absolutely amazing expression of true Christ like love. Just amazing.

StepMania

I was at my dh's friend's house last night and he has a metal dance pad for StepMania (like DDR). Now, I have to get one. It was so fun. I'm not getting a metal one yet, but definitely getting a dance pad. So, if anyone has dance pad recommendations, please share them.

My Day

I completed a couple of layouts, so go check out my digi scrap gallery. I especially like the 4th Anniversary layout.

This weekend was General Conference for the LDS Church. I watched/listened (depending on the cooperation of my cable Internet). They were some great talks. One thing that really stuck with me was something Elder Robert D. Hales said. He said that when we want to talk to God we pray. When we want to hear from God, we read the scriptures. I just thought that was such a great point. Prayer and scripture study really do go hand in hand.

I was also really moved by a story President Thomas S. Monson told. It was of a now grown woman, who when she was a teenager had a battle with cancer. She was supposed to hike Mt. Timpanogos with her young woman's group. She told them they would have to go with out her. When she did, they said no, we will carry you. I was just impressed they would do this. Hiking to the top of Mt. Timp is a grueling hike under the best of circumstances, so that these girls would do that is just amazing.

Well, that about covers my day. I did have an awesome fruit tart that I picked up at Whole Foods yesterday. It was so yummy. :o)

I can't believe it. I wrote out this great story about how Bonita came into my home and Blogger ate it. Ugh!!!! Anyway, as requested, here are some pictures of two of my fids, Bonita and Dumplin. Bonita is a green cheek conure and Dumplin is a Dutch Blue lovebird.

Why I Love Digi Scrapping

I just finished a two-page layout and was reminded why I love digi scrapping. This layout has been in the works for two or three weeks. Yet it did not create even the smallest mess on my table. lol

I wish I had started digi scrapping long ago. Doing so was one of the smarter things I have ever done. It combines two of my favorite things, computers and scrapbooking, but without the mess. :O)

Loopholes

Why are some people so interested in using loopholes to get around rules? It happens all the time. In fact, I saw it happen at work yesterday. About a week ago, I specifically told a customer they could not make a specific type of post in our website forum. What was she doing exactly a week later. Trying to use a loophole she came up with to get around the rule. Well it didn't work. I saw the post and now it's gone. But I really think she could not believe that the post was not violating the forum rules. I really can't. So why did she do it? Was it a test, to see if the post would be deleted. I don't know. But it was very annoying and very disappointing. To me, if something is wrong, then it's wrong even if you think you've found a loophole that will allow you to get buy with something. Am I wrong? Is that just an outdated concept? I don't know, but I hope not.

Coup in Thailand

I've been reading about the coup in Thailand. The Thai military claims they are trying to protect democracy. I don't know, I have my doubts. But it has caused me to think about what we have really been blessed with here in the United States. We don't make our will known through military coups, we make it known through democratic elections. We exercise our right to vote. We vote in (or our) those men and women who we feel best represent an ideal government. And then if we don't like what is happening, we have the right to express our displeasure and work to change it. That is what is really great about the United States.

If you are grateful that military coups are not a normal way of life in this country, then show it. Show it by voting in November and making your will known.

LIfestyle Changes

I tend to get discouraged about my attempt to lose weight. It has not gone as fast as I would like. But then yesterday I got to thinking and realized that while I might not be losing weight like I would like, I am still so much better off than I was just a few months ago. I am exercising on a regular basis and I am much more cognizant of what I am eating. I try very hard to drink 8 glasses of water a day, eat fruit and veggies daily and get enough fiber. I am also taking Viactiv multivitamins and a calcium chew. I'm trying very hard to be healthier, not just lose weight. So, while the scale might not be moving down as fast as I would like, I know I am improving my health.

My Dog Sanosuke

Would someone please tell my dog Sanosuke, that eveything is not about him. He wants all the toys, all the food, all the everything. Just now, I had to take my skirt away from him. He just turned 7 months old on Wednesday and I think he is trying to drive me nuts. I really, really do. And guess what, it's working. Sanosuke can be so sweet and I really love him, but he would try the patience of a Saint. I know he tries the patience of my other two dogs, Sazume and Smokey. But it is fun to see Smokey, the toy poodle, tell Sanosuke how it is. Sanosuke weighs close to 60 pounds, so it's pretty funny. Sazume is just a sweetheart who puts up with way too much from Sanosuke and never complains. She just has such a loving heart. I love all three of them tons.

September 11th

It's hard to believe that we are marking the 5th Anniversary of September 11th. I still remember that day so vividly. I had been married less than a month and in Florida for less than two weeks. Back then my hubby didn't have cable TV and only dialup Internet access. So, once online, I had no phone service.

I got online after my hubby left for work. That is when a friend of my told me that two planes had crashed into the World Trade Center. I misunderstood at first. I thought that two planes had collided above the World Trade Center. I was wrong. I turned on the radio and then when I couldn't take the lack of pictures anymore, I ran to Kmart to get bunny ears. I got there about the time the first tower collapsed. I stayed there for awhile watching their TVs and then headed home. I could now watch one channel and it wasn't great. However, it was better than nothing. I was glued to the TV for the rest of the day.

My hubby, for some odd reason, tried to get me to go with his best friends' wife to be with his friends' mother who was hysterical. I did not want to go be with a hysterical person. I actually did really well dealing with it until my sweetie and I had gone to bed for the evening. That is when I cried my heart out.

We did go over to his friends' house after work, so we could see the cable news. I was glad for the chance, even if I was driven a little nuts. They are pretty liberal, so some of their ideas were off the wall.

I remember the smoke and the people running. I remember the people they showed jumping from the buildings. I remember the day in such vivid detail. It is so odd, because I usually have a horrible memory.

Today, my prayers are with those who lost loved ones on 9/11. What a horrible tragedy for those families. The tragedy of 9/11 has affected everyone in this country who remembers that day. However, it is even a greater tragedy for those families.

Alan Jackson wrote a song about 9/11 and I think the words are perfect for the end of my entry.

Exercise Goals

Yesterday, while driving around with my hubby, I set my first goals for exercise. Here they are:

1. Ride my street bike to the end of Becker and back. (Round trip of about 10 miles.)
2. Bench press 40 pounds.
3. Leg lifts of 80 pounds.

I have more goals once I've reached these, but these are my first goals.

Hurricane/Tropical Storm Ernesto

I am so tired of the hurricane watch. I feel like that is all I've done since 2004, even though I know that's not true. But that's the way I feel right now. In 2004, we were hit by both Frances and Jeanne. In 2005, it was Wilma. Now, we are waiting to see what Ernesto will do. And I've been very blessed with all of these hurricanes, as we haven't sustained much damage. But I am still just so tired of the hurricane watch. I love South Florida, but right now I am ready to live somewhere else.

I am 35 years old. I grew up in tornado country. In fact, I spent about 25 years living in tornado country. Do you know how many tornadoes hit me in all that time? Zero, that's right, zero. I've spent five years living in Florida and I've already been hit by three hurricanes and it could soon be four (the rest of my years were spent in either Utah or California). Those are not numbers that make me happy (well that I've never been hit by a tornado makes me very happy).

I know when the hurricane season ends, I will once again be very happy I live in Florida. Right now, though I am very tired of hurricane season and we still have three months to go.

I need to blog more

Okay, I need to post on my own blog more. This is pathetic. I am going to start doing better. I know I don't have the most exciting life in the world, but it's not this boring. lol

Discovery Lift Off

For the 4th of July, my hubby and I traveled up to Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island really, to watch the shuttle lift off. It was our second try, as we went up on that Saturday for the first attempt to launch. It was way worth two trips and the cost of gas. We were within 12 miles of the launch pad and you could actually hear the rumble from the lift off. It was an amazing way to spend the 4th.

And no one who could see the people parked along the road waiting for lift off on that day or on Saturday, would have any doubt that Americans still support the space program. There were so many people gathered, thousands would not be understating it, to see our return to space. All so excited for this moment. It was truly awesome.

God bless the astronauts may they return home safely!

First Digi Scrap Layout

I finished my first digital scrapbooking layout this evening. Right now, I don't think I am any faster than I am at paper scrapbooking, but I sure do love the lack of mess when I am done. :O)

I don't know that I will ever completely give up paper scrapping, but I definitely think digital scrapbooking is going to be a definite part of how I scrap photos from now on.
